We have started a collaboration with The Blog Frog http://www.theblogfrog.com/ Our blog will be one of the ones featured and they will write guest blogs on the cavnessHR blog once in awhile. This should be a great way to spread the word of cavnessHR to a larger audience.
We did a storyboard for the cavnessHR site and we are working on a redesign of the site. Expect a cleaner and more intuitive site. Our branding colors and logo will remain the same.
We took part in an optimizing your pricing webinar that was co-hosted by close.io https://close.io/ and price intelligently https://www.priceintelligently.com/ One important item most companies get wrong is the pricing module. Especially, new companies. They covered several methods to charge the right price for your product.
We were a guest on the JumbleThink podcast. https://www.jumblethink.com/ This was a great experience and provided us another opportunity to talk about cavnessHR to another audience.
For one of the products/services, we are going to provide. We plan on providing small business owners salary and compensation benchmarking information. For example, making recommendations on how much to pay their employees. What % of their labor market are they paying their employees and providing detailed information to share with their employees. If they choose to do so.
Right now we use PayScale www.payscale.com to provide this info. We currently do this manually by pulling info from PayScale and providing to the small business owner. This method will not be feasible if we grow according to our plan. That is why we were counting on being given access to the PayScale API. Of course, you know what they say about assumptions.
When we asked PayScale for their API and gave the reason for the request. We were told we don't meet their criteria. They do provide their API to bambooHR www.bamboohr.com and ADP www.adp.com So, maybe it the fact that cavnessHR is not big enough yet in their eyes for them to provide their API.
We are going to reach out to Salary.com www.salary.com and some other companies that provide this info to see if they will share their API with us. We are pretty sure that all these companies use the Bureau of Labor Statistics https://www.bls.gov/ to help put together their pay information.
We have the BLS API in case we have to build this from scratch. Which is something we really don't want to do. We would rather just pay someone else who already does this and use their API. Or maybe we will decide not to offer this as a service.
Now for some disappointing news. As we have talked about the past few blog posts. cavnessHR had entered the UW-Tacoma VIBE https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/veterans-incubator-better-entrepreneurship/welcome-vibe business plan competition. First, the deadline was changed from April 13 to April 23.
Then we received an email that said that despite several highly qualified submissions. They did not have enough submissions to have a robust competition. This decision was very disappointing and frustrating for us. If you have several highly qualified submissions. It would seem that you have enough to have the competition.
We completed mission 7 of the Bunker Labs Launch Online Accelerator program. https://bunkerlabs.org/launch-lab-online/ This one focused on designing your business. Kind of seems like this one should have been placed earlier in the program. It also seems like some of the materials are repeats from previous missions.
We had one more interview with a possible intern from the https://www.pugetsound.edu/academics/experiential/for-students/featured-programs/rise/
all of the potential interns we have talked to are extremely talented. For the ones who select cavnessHR, they will be great assets for us.
We were able to schedule or instagram posting for the month of May by using Later. www.later.com If you have not tried it out yet, it is a great social media tool.
