Another busy week at cavnessHR.
We went to the Seattle Public Library and received help from Jay Lymon - twitter @jaylyman in putting together the market research for cavnessHR. This was one of the requirements for the BusinessImpactNW pitch competition. We could not of done this without his help.
We continued to make refinements to the cavnessHR financials, business feasibility and market research. Our business coach Jessica Conaway provided some great feedback and was a great help in getting these products ready. We sent these product to the BusinessImpact NW pitch competition as the requirements to compete for the next round. The current round has 50 startups and the next round will see this cut to 16. We should find out around August 10 if cavnessHR makes it to the next round.
We are going to provide our market research and business feasiblity on another blog post that will also go out today. We are not providing our financials. We want to be transparent. But we are not ready to be that transparent yet. At least not right now anyway.
Some more of the unsexy stuff about building a business. Our annual subscription to the SHRM employee handbook builder was up. So we had to renew that subscription. This is what we are using to help us build the employee handbooks we will provide to small business when they enter our sales funnel.
We were also sent a reminder by Namecheap that 3 of our domains were coming up for renewal. These are three domains that we had played around with as possible names for the company last year. Since we are not using them, we are going to let them expire. Luckily, it was not on an automatic renewal. Or else we would still be paying for them next year.
We continue to do the prep for our upcoming podcast interviews and did a couple of practice runs on the tech side of this. We also reached out to the 35 people who said they were interested in being interviewed to start the coordination process. There is a lot involved in doing a podcast. We are going to do our best to start interviewing in two weeks. Then to start publishing them two weeks after that.
We attended a joint code fellows https://www.codefellows.org and Bunker Lab Seattle https://bunkerlabs.org/seattle networking event. There was some great presentations. I was especially impressed by the presentation by Bruce T. Bjorklund. He had a great and inspiring story to tell. There was some great talent there and we have reached out to quite a few of them to recruit them for cavnessHR.
We also spent some time commenting on various social media posts about the lack of jobs for junior devs. We provided our input on this and of course talked about cavnessHR and what we want to do. Several of them have reached back to us about working at cavnessHR. As a startup up you have to leave no rock unturned in the search for talent.
We attended the Ignite U www.igniteu365.com twice this week. It helps that they paid for our breakfast one of the times. Each meeting had over 125 small business owners. This is a great networking event and I am learning a lot from the people there.
We attended the FoundersLive pitch event www.founderslive.com . We had not attended this event for awhile. There was even more people this time than I had remembered attending. As usual there was some great pitches from various industries. Sometimes I wonder how investors decide who not to invest in as it seems there are lots of great people with great ideas and business modules.
We also joined the Snapchat nation. Not saying we are experts. But we have people following us and we are following others as well. We figured out how ghost codes work and we are posting about 4 times a day for now. I really like this platform. Like about a million others, I can't stop looking at Dj Khaled's snaps for some reason.
We also started a cavnessHR Instagram account. We will be busy over the next few days figuring out the best way to utilize both of them to build cavnessHR.
At our weekly in person meeting we worked on figuring out why 70% of our website emails are goiing to spam. Also why our email campaign manager (Charlie.io) is showing that our cavnessHR domain is unregistered and not allowing us to use Charlie.io to send out our email campaign.
While doing all this, somehow my jasoncavness@cavnessHR.com is no longer able to receive emails. Now we are trying to figure this out. This has happened before. We know it is going to end being a simple solution. But right now it is not so simple.
