Here is the cavnessHR update for February 13, 2018. In these, we update you on the progress of how we are building cavnessHR.
We continue to participate in the Launch Lab Online Accelerator which is sponsored by Bunker Labs. You watch some insightful videos and read some great articles that help to focus you on what it means to build a company. You also participate in the FB discussions.
I had a great call with my Launch Lab Online Group member, https://www.linkedin.com/in/maggieguidry/ The purpose of the call is to help each other stay focused and to help each other.
cavnessHR participated in the Goodwill Operations job fair on JBLM. We met some great people at this event. Lots of great veteran talent was there looking for their next opportunity. I was able to connect a few of the software developers with a CTO I know who is looking for dev talent and can actually pay for it. I also sent all the veterans I connected with links to the blogs I did in the past about my own transition.
For the cavnessHR podcast, we have released 30 of them and we have had 3111 downloads and/or views from the various platforms. The goal is to obtain 1000 downloads per episode. Then we can approach companies about being sponsors for the cavnessHR podcast.
Of course, the primary goal is to use the cavnessHR podcast as a marketing tool for cavnessHR.
We attended the monthly meeting of Design Professionals with MBApierce. https://www.mbapierce.com/ The meeting was hosted by Wane+Flitch https://www.waneandflitch.com/ Wane+Flitch is a live edge wood furniture company that uses local trees that are always salvaged and never poached. They create furniture pieces that are unique, stunning and timeless while simultaneously offering a consumer experience that is exploratory, educational and inspirational.
They also have a great Instagram - @waneandflitch
We decided to change our email campaign manager. Our previous one kept sending our emails to the spam folder. Obviously, this is not a good thing. Based on the recommendation of our CTO, we are switching to Sendgrid. https://sendgrid.com/ If you are a startup, they provide you 12 months of service for free.
We had our weekly software development meeting. That went well. The challenge for us is everyone has such different schedules. Plus our CTO is in the middle of a cross-country move from Georgia to San Jose, Ca.
Based on some conversations we had with some small business owners, we made some significant changes to our pricing module. They all said that the previous price was indeed less than having a full-time HR or bringing on a HR consultant. But the price was in their opinion still out of the reach of most small businesses. We took their advice and lowered our pricing module. Now more than ever, we will need to rely on the tech side of cavnessHR to make this work.
We put in some work on the sales side this last week. We went over all the sales materials we have and reviewed some of our sales videos we received from https://close.io/ We did our draft objection management worksheet and our draft sales scripts of our cold calls. We sent this out to a few people for their feedback.
We changed the way we are doing our social media posting. To be honest, I can't believe, I did not do this a long time ago. Before we would post to LinkedIn, Twitter, FB, and Instagram several times a day by either manually posting or using Buffer and Later. It finally dawned on us to just post everything for the entire week at one time. This should save us some time during this week by taking care of this at one time during the week.
