Another busy week of learning and building cavnessHR.
We attended the weekly VIBE meeting at the University of Washington-Tacoma. https://www.tacoma.uw.edu/veterans-incubator-better-entrepreneurship/welcome-vibe The presenters did a follow up on how to do pitch decks and various fundraising tips. At cavnessHR, we are still not sure if we will be participating in the UW-Tacoma VIBE upcoming business plan pitch competition.
We attended the Public Relations and Design Council meetings of MBApierce. https://www.mbapierce.com/ We are attending these meetings as a way to meet more people within the MBApierce community and to see where we can add value. As you know we are focused on delivering cavnessHR to the construction industry in the Seattle-Tacoma area. We believe MBApierce will be a great way for us to do this.
We did not have our weekly meeting with BINW this week. But we continue to deliver HR to them and to learn from them. We are also going to start providing a class on HR laws to the customers of BINW. We have sent them our proposed presentation and we are just waiting to see what are the next steps. For the small businesses that attend our HR laws seminars. We plan on providing them a free employee handbook, a free version of their HR policies and a free copy of the Labor posters they need for 2018. So we will be providing them a lot of value.
We have started working on our pitch decks for potential fundraising in the future. There is so much advice out there on these subjects. I think the best thing you can do is put together a deck that tells the story and vision of your company. While also researching who you are pitching. We also started reaching out to potential members of our Board of Advisors this week and we have a few talks set up with some of them this upcoming week.
We had another interview with a possible intern from the RISE program at the University of Puget Sound. https://www.pugetsound.edu/academics/experiential/for-students/featured-programs/rise/ We have talked to 3 possible interns and we were impressed by all three. We told the RISE Program Director, Nicole Kendrick, that we did not mean to be greedy. But it would be great if all 3 could do their internships with cavnessHR.
We continue to meet with people and network and talk to as many people as possible about cavnessHR. Either about being customers of cavnessHR or joining the cavnessHR team. We spent some time looking into blogs that we could potentially guest blog on in the future. We also spent some time researching various podcasts that we could potentially be a guest on in the future. We think both options will help to build traction for cavnessHR.
On the administrative side of cavnessHR. We signed up for GoDaddy's SmartLine. This gives you a business line by using an app at a great cost. We are signed up for the free version for now. What we like best about this is when you receive a business call on your cell. It will say it is a call from SmartLine.
We had our weekly meeting with our dev team. Which included myself, our CTO and the devs from Green River College. This week the Program Director for the software development program at Green River College, Ken Hang attended. Ken wanted to make sure his devs were on track and providing us great value. It was a great meeting and we accomplished a lot.
We finally started writing content for our upcoming HR blogs for small business. We have a lot of work to do on this before we are ready to push these out. The intent is to produce a once-weekly blog on a subject that will bring value to small business in regards to HR.

We had our bi-monthly talk with our Launch Lab Online Accelerator group partner Maggie
As always, we received a lot of value from this. It is really great to have someone bounce ideas off that is going through the same process as you.
