When people ask me how building cavnessHR is going. I always tell them that it is exciting and frustrating. This week was a perfect example of that.
First the frustrating part. One of our developers who had been doing some great things went radio silent on us. No one has heard anything from him for a little over three weeks. We know he took a job at a major company in the area. But he had given us the impression that he would still be helping out with cavnessHR. For him just to disappear is really disappointing.
But we talked to one of our Board of Advisors and he gave some great recommendations on finding some more dev talent. We reached out to about seven of them in our network and one has agreed to meet with us.
We finally met with a potential customer that we had been following up with for about two months. We had a good meeting and discussed ways cavnessHR can add value. This potential customer is another non-profit. So we know their funding is limited. So they asked for us to follow up with them again in a month.
We met with an existing customer to finalize their onboarding process. As we talked about before, our original plan was not to do onboarding. But we are doing onboarding for this customer and we are learning some valuable lessons.
We have previously used TypeForm surveys to ask small business owners questions concerning HR. We have refined these questions and we plan on using these in the near future.
We attended the Business Impact Northwest Celebration of Dreams event. https://businessimpactnw.org/annualevents/celebratingdreams/
It was an event with over 150 local women-owned small businesses. There were lots of great businesses. We had a great time talking to all the great women entrepreneurs. 12 of which agreed to talk to cavnessHR about how we can help set up their HR. We also took two of our interns with us to this event. As we said before we want to expose them to as many people and events as possible.
One of our interns wants to open a bakery after college. So she was able to connect with several women who currently own some sort of food-related business. So this event was really helpful for her.
We had our weekly cavnessHR meeting which as usual was pretty productive
We had demos with Goco and Zenefits as we continue to look at various payroll/HR options for one of our customers.
Finally, for the exciting part. We have had an HR internship posted at Pacific Lutheran University for a while. Well, we received an email from someone asking if they could come to talk to us about it. We talked to them and they agreed to do an internship with us. So we have another great person on our team. This intern will be helping with HR and marketing.
