CavnessHR Update
First, thank you for reading this update on CavnessHR. CavnessHR is a HR Tech startup located in Seattle, Wa. We deliver HR to companies with 49 or fewer people across the U.S.
There are over 5M small businesses in the U.S. Most don't don't have HR because they can't afford an internal HR person. Then you have the HR consultants who over charge and under deliver value and larger HR companies provide horrible user experiences.
At CavnessHR we want to provide HR to small business owners who know HR is important to their business. But the above options do not work for them.
For some context on the below, the last CavnessHR update was about a month ago.
We made a trip to the Bay Area to build up our relationships and networks there. We spent a week and met with about 4 people per day. We met some great people, who in turn introduced us to some more great people. We also attended some networking events. To include the Deep Tech Pitch Competition.
We originally went to the Bay Area to participate in Patriot Boot Camp https://patriotbootcamp.org/ Patriot Boot Camp is under the umbrella of Techstars and they assist Veteran Businesses to go to the next level. However, because of the current reality, it was cancelled the day before. So that was disappointing, especially considering all the hard work that went into being accepted. As it is competitive to be accepted. Hopefully, Patriot Boot Camp will be rescheduled. As this will be great learning experience.
We applied to the Rice University Veterans Pitch Competition. We were told we had a strong application and intriguing business model. But we did not make the semi-final round.
We were accepted to the Hofstra Veterans Venture Challenge. 120 applied and we made the final 20. This is a 5 day boot camp from June 15 to June 19 at Hofstra University and ends in a pitch competition with combined prizes of $100,000. It also includes mentoring sessions with leaders in the NYC business community and access to Hofstra University students to help out with CavnessHR.
The CavnessHR website is live at www.cavnesshr.com. It does need some refinement and other items fixed. But, it is 97% completed. The CavnessHR platform is 40% completed and we continue to work to build that out.
As I said above, I attended the Deep Tech pitch competition. That night there was one non-deep tech startup that competed. So I figured I should apply as well. CavnessHR applied and was accepted. I was hoping that the one CavnessHR would compete in would be in person. But, because of our current reality it was not in person. So the pitch was done over Zoom and it was still a good learning experience.
The plan is to significantly increase the times CavnessHR is pitched in the next few months. It would be appreciated that if you know of any pitch opportunities you pass them our way.
We have also applied to pitch at the Sandhills Raw pitch competition that is run by one of the Angel Groups in the Bay Area.
We continue to work on bringing on more partnerships to help add value to the customers of CavnessHR.
From our point of view we have done everything we need to do to set up CavnessHR to be successful. Now we need to focus obtaining customers for Cavness HR to validate our business model.
