cavnessHR update
A lot has happened since our last update.
We continue to meet with people to talk about cavnessHR and to receive their insights and feedback.
We continue to have our website and platform developed by Thirstysprout. As part of this, we have moved cavnessHR from Google Cloud Platform to AWS.
Flatiron School https://flatironschool.com/ has been redesigning our website and platform for us. Actually, we are doing a rebrand on the site. Our colors and logo and other items will be changing. Flatiron did user testing on various items for us.
One of them was if we should change from cavnessHR to cavness. I thought the users would say change to cavness. But I was wrong as a majority of people said to stary with cavnessHR.
We are also rebranding the cavnessHR podcast to the Jason Cavness Experience. We are working on having an actual website for the podcast. Currently, we are averaging 800 downloads a day.
We attended a hackathon in San Francisco as a way to start building relationships in the Bay area. We also met the founder of CoBiz. A coworking space in Richmond, Ca. They are just starting out and we are going to work with them on the possibility of cavnessHR providing HR for the companies at the coworking space
We attended the Global 2020 conference in the Bay area as well. This was a great event with lots of great panels. But we had two takeaways. One is ask for what you need and not what you think they will give. Then that first-time founders focus on the product and second-time founders focus on distribution. So learn to focus on both.
We attended classes on how to fundraise, due diligence and other financial related classes by Andrew Klein of http://zccounting.com
We have been looking for pitches to compete in and investors to reach out to for cavnessHR. We have applied to several national pitch competitions. So far we have made the second round of the Hofstra Veterans Ventures Challenge. https://news.hofstra.edu/2019/12/04/hofstra-launches-100000-veterans-entrepreneurship-contest/. We made it from the first 100 startups to the next round of 21. If we make the final 10, we will take part in a week-long boot camp and pitch competition on Hofstra University.
We will be taking part in Patriot Boot Camp in San Francisco from March 5-7. https://patriotbootcamp.org/ Then we have meetings set up March 9 to 11 with various people in the Bay area.
Danielle Bootes https://www.linkedin.com/in/daniellebootes/ has joined the cavnessHR team as our Director of HR Operations and Analytics. She is helping to build out the products and services for cavnessHR.
